Public Health England (PHE) has produced a Health Equity Assessment Tool (HEAT) to enable professionals to systematically identify and address health inequalities and equity in their work programmes or services. This elearning supports the use of the tool, providing the context and purpose, outlining the benefits of using the tool, and taking the learner step-by-step through each stage of the tool. It also provides a general introduction to health inequalities and equity, as well as, examples of good practice
Alongside this elearning, you may find it useful to access these other resources:
The intended audience for HEAT is a wide range of professionals who want to make a difference in relation to inequalities and equality in their services and work programmes. This includes professionals working at national and local level and for those working with commissioners or providers, such as Screening and Immunisation teams, local authorities, Clinical Commissioning Groups, ICSs, public health registrars and medical trainees.
This publication is an essential guide for those working in the health and public health arenas to apply a strong inequalities and equity focus to their work.
Duration: 20 minutes
This elearning module has been jointly developed with PHE Centres and Regions and the wider audience of stakeholders.
This work was commissioned to increase the capacity in the system to systematically address health inequalities and equity. It is designed to facilitate the use of the Health Equity Assessment Tool (HEAT) and drive improvements.
These resources will also be helpful in developing COVID19 recovery plans and in service commissioning or business planning cycles.
This elearning has been developed by working closely with professionals and HEAT users to ensure that it is user-friendly, digital and fit for purpose among multiple audiences.
