The Public Participation Engagement programme was developed as an alternative to the one-day face-to-face session to ensure learning opportunities are available to all colleagues. It is aimed at those people working in a commissioning role, supporting a commissioning role or who have an interest in this work.
It supports staff to involve patients and the public in their work in a meaningful way to improve services, including giving clear advice on the legal duty to involve. The elearning links to an extensive range of resources, good practice and advice that will support staff to involve patients and the public. It highlights key participation principles and themes including working with ‘seldom heard’ groups to maximise the benefits and impact of involvement.
Thanks to colleagues from NHS England Mids and East Quality and Patient Experience team for their feedback and quality assurance in developing this learning programme.
