Accessibility statement for e-Learning for Healthcare
This website is run by Health Education England. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- some pages are not capable of zooming to 300% without text spilling off the screen
- some pages are not easily navigable without a mouse
- some tables do not have row headers
- some pages have poor colour contrast
- some heading elements are not consistent
- some images do not have good alternative text
- some buttons are not correctly identified
- some documents are in PDF format and are not accessible
In January 2020 we did an internal audit for this site which highlighted the need for improvements. We are currently making those improvements and will release those changes in October 2020.

Some pages on this site link to digital resources such as Word documents, PDF documents, videos and elearning content developed by third parties. We also link to websites and resources hosted on third party platforms.
These Regulations do not apply to third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by, nor under the control of Health Education England.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
Some of our older PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards – for example, they may not be structured so they’re accessible to a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role value).
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
How we tested this website
This website was last tested in January 2020. The test was carried out by elearning for healthcare.
We used a variety of tools including aXe and Wave.
