About the Community-centred approaches to health improvement programme
Communities matter for health. A community where people are well connected, are inclusive and respectful of all and involved in local decision making are healthy communities. Improving population health requires us to address these community factors and work with and alongside community members to improve the things that matter for their health.
The Marmot Review made clear that strengthening communities, through empowerment and asset based approaches, is essential to reducing health inequalities. The Five Year Forward View also prioritises working with communities and releasing their capabilities for health and wellbeing.
These two modules will focus on community-centred approaches to improving health and wellbeing. Module 1 will cover the background evidence and theory on why this is important and what approaches work. Module 2 involves practical exercises to apply the knowledge into your own work and enable you to make strategic and practical plans for taking community-centred approaches forward within your organisation.
The modules are based on A guide to community-centred approaches for health and wellbeing by Public Health England and NHS England.

How to access

Not an NHS organisation?
If you are not an NHS health or care organisation and therefore do not qualify for free access elfh Hub, you may be able to access the service by creating an OpenAthens account.
To check whether or not you qualify for free access via OpenAthens, you can view the eligibility criteria and register on the ‘OpenAthens’ portal.
